Question 27 February 2003
I want to buy a web camera,
but have a problem. It seems that all the cameras I look at require a
USB connection. My computer is an older one and I don't have a USB
connection. Does this mean that I need a new computer. Any help
would be appreciated.
Regards
Robert
Answer
Robert,
You probably don't need
a new computer. If your present system meets the System Requirements
(normally printed on the camera box) you should be able to get by with
simply adding a USB card to your computer. This is a card that
fits in your computer and would give you USB ports. Should probably cost
less than $70.00. On the bright side you should be able to get a USB2
card which gives a faster data transfer than the USB ports existing on
most computers. The installation is not difficult but if you are unsure
you can have the job done for a reasonable price.
